LAST TWO MEET & GREETS

Although some members could not be with us for the full four
hours, the thirty that attended along with the six wives / partners enjoyed each
others company. Some of the ladies took advantage of the freedom to go for some
retail therapy. Pete ROTTINGER was accompanied by his son David who is currently
serving CPOETC at Cerberus in the Electrical training area, also Jim ROADKNIGHT
was accompanied by his son Al Allan who will pass out as a Greenie in April at
Cerberus. It was good to see Ray FRYER back in on deck.
Amongst those there were Warren MIDGLEY and his wife from the Port Stevens area
of NSW who were passing through on his way to “Tassy”. Also new Victorian
member, Paul POKORZYSKY (Poka) who has never served in the RAN however well know
by ships crews doing maintenance Williamstown Naval Dockyard, Poka worked for
decades in the Radio workshop at “Dogtown”.
A big thank you to Frank LUDEWIG for stepping in to assist Bob FARR and Ray
DRAKE with the refreshment preparations.

Fremantle Navy Club
The M & G went well, 11 attended and all were satisfied with
the venue. Once again I sold NO merchandise - I am an abject failure as a
salesman, but we did give a couple of stickers and a bottle opener to the
barmaid. I still have a box of goodies to return to you or someone.

Wynnum RSL Club
Well, the day is done and Wynnum RSL was went over very well.
Had a total of 15 ex-greenies attend, so compared to the last M&G of 2 people,
I'd call that a resounding success.
Though some travelled some distance, the venue got a big thumbs up all round
from the guys, with promises of returning next February. So I'm stoked. We'll
have to work on getting an even better turn out next time, and keep building
from there.

There were 31 attendees with 14 apologies. One of which was mine as I was in
Sydney and attended the NSW event. A suggestion that was made at the NSW event
that we should organise a laptop to be at each of the state M & G’s in February
and then we can arrange a Skype hook-up. Worth looking at.
Unfortunately, some of the attendees at absconded before the obligatory class
photo was taken, so there are some missing from the photo.

Fremantle RSL Club
We had a successful Meet & Greet at the Fremantle RSL Club
last Saturday with 11 attendees (Gary Paterson, Tony Howell, Peter Bailey,
Denis Coombe, Les Lever, Ron Clement, Tony Cuming, Maurice Bougard, Clark Pride,
Peter Dales and Clive Plummer)
and 19 apologies (Tom van der Togt, Lou Hoekzema, Ron
Jackson, Harry Hills, Mick Crossen, Wally McNamee, Kevin Gleeson, Frank
Hollingsworth, Garry Simons, Steve Johns, Trevor Davies, Sid Czabotar, Colin

The meeting voted to try the Navy Club, 64 High Street,
Fremantle for the February 19th meeting. The new venue will be advertised to W.A.
members before the next meeting.
Unfortunately, little interest was shown in the stickers, notebooks, pens and
bottle openers and I will pass them on to Mel when he returns from his cruise.
